Group Rides & Rallies

Appalachian ADV will be hosting group rides and rallies!  The intention is for ADV bikes but anything street legal will work (see Disclaimers below).  Although we enjoy participating in all kinds of rallies, many of which have large turnouts, our intention is to host more intimate events.  We enjoy riding with smaller groups, pushing each other’s limits during the day then sitting around a campfire at night laughing about the challenges of the ride.

The goal is to have different styles of rallies throughout the year, the classic style (The Fools Ride on April Fools Ride and The Wilds of Wayne), the BDR style (Allegheny Backcountry Adventure Loop), and the hybrid (PA Wilds Hardcore ADV Tour).

2021 ADV Schedule

April 9-11, 2021 - The Fools Ride on April Fools Ride
A great way to knock off the winter cobwebs!  A few of Appalachian ADV’s local loops, near Brush Creek in Eastern Ohio.  Each loop encompasses 50-100+ miles of two-lane county pavers, off the beaten path gravel roads, “No Maintenance” dirt lanes, and plenty expert challenge areas.

Friday's ride will help warm up participants with several options including easy-rated loops of 50, 70 or 115 miles and a chance to hit an expert section.  At just over 100 miles, the main event on Saturday is considered moderate with several optional expert challenge areas (depending on weather some moderate sections can become expert!).  Those looking for less of a challenge can take the main loop and skip the expert challenge areas or run one of the easier loops.  Sunday's Hardcore Encore route is not for the faint of heart, expert only!  Unmaintained trails, creek riding, hill climbs, along with scenic vista views of and a close up look at the Ohio River.  GPS tracks will be available for the easier routes for self-guided tours.

The routes are intended for and graded based on ADV bikes. Dual Sport bikes are welcome and will have a much easier time on the courses.
Camp will be set up on 80+ acres of private land with a 50x80 powered outbuilding and plenty of places for rustic camping.  Breakfast and dinner will be provided on Saturday.  All other meals should be planned by rally participants.  A lunch stop is built into the Saturday ride and there are several places to pick up food near base camp and along the routes.

June 16-19, 2021 - The Allegheny Backcountry Adventure Loop
A Backcountry Discovery Route-inspired Adventure loop that starts in Western Pennsylvania near McConnells Mills State Park and runs through the Allegheny National Forest (ANF) and into the Allegany State Park in Western New York before looping back to start.  The 500+ mile route will take the rider through historic sites and small towns via pavement, gravel, and dirt roads.  75+ miles of off road sections are also included using unmaintained thoroughfares as well as the ANF OHM trail systems (a USDA Forest Service OHM trail pass will be required).  The ride will grant participants a new moto-camping experience each night at a different private, state, or federal campground, including an optional overnight before the start.  Participation will be capped at 15 riders, more details and sign-up information will be distributed by the beginning of 2021.

Summer/Fall, 2021 - The PA Wilds Hardcore ADV Tour
We will touch rubber in Moshannon, Sproul, & Susquehannock State Forests and include some gloriously ugly terrain in the best motorbiking area on the East Coast! This rally is not for the faint of heart as we will be tackling off-the-beaten-path forest two tracks, drivable trails, and unmaintained thoroughfares. The PA Wilds ride is considered moderate to expert. The plan is to start with a camp near McConnells Mill State Park, PA then we will ride to base camp in Sproul State Forest using some interesting routing! Oh yeah, we will start this ride out right! The next two days will have us on two excellent loops covering some magnificent and challenging terrain. If you're still hungry, we will pack up camp and ride the the long way back towards start.  Participation will be capped at 15 riders, more details and sign-up information will be distributed by the beginning of 2021.
