Allegheny Jamboree Powersports Rally
A Family Friendly, All-Skill-Levels Off Road, Dual Sport and Adventure Rally! Trail riding for Quads, SxSs, Dirt Bikes, Dual Sports and Adventure bikes! Gravel road rides for Dual Sports and Adventure bikes!
There will be trail rides available on Timberline, Marienville, Penoke, and Rocky Gap. Willow Creek trails are included in the ANF Trail Pass but they are approximately one hour drive from camp. Rocky Gap is approximately 40 minutes from camp and we plan to hit those on Sunday after packing up camp, for anyone interested! A few All-Skills-Level ADV Loops utilizing pavement and gravel/dirt forest service roads will also be available for those not wanting to tackle the trails, guided or self-guided (plated, street-legal vehicles required for the ADV routes).
Each trail is rated by the USFS and each has specific width restrictions for Quads and SxSs (check the link above for full trail descriptions). Timberline has the most miles of trail and is rated the easiest. For those interested in dipping a toe into off road riding with a larger ADV bike, Timberline is a great fit. This trail is rated easiest and will have all levels of ages and skills and all manner of powersports rides. The thing to watch here is that all of the trails utilize 2-way traffic so Ride Right when field of vision is limited (i.e. hills, blind curves, etc.). It is the easiest but has the highest risk for collisions due to 2-way traffic and many intersecting trails.
Marienville is medium rated and much of the loop utilizes 1-way traffic with some of the connector trails running both ways (they will mark when entering 2-way traffic). If Timberline went well for your ADV bike, Marienville will step it up a bit and provide more challenges.
Penoke is the hardest trail in the ANF system. I only recommend EXPERT level ADV riders tackle this trail. You will sweat, you will work hard, and you will drop your bike (potentially multiple times). This one is mostly 1-way and the smaller bikes will love it!
Rocky Gap is an Appalachian ADV favorite! The south loop is rated similar to Marienville and the north similar to Penoke. ADV bike riders will find the south loop fun and flowy with a mountain bike style section, plenty of ruts, plenty of roots, and mostly 1-way traffic with the exception of a couple connectors (marked when entering 2-way traffic areas). I only recommend EXPERT level ADV riders tackle the north loop.
Small bikes will have a blast on all of the trails, a slightly easier time on the higher rated trails, but still be challenged plenty on the ANF Trail System!
We will be staying at the Forest Lodge & Campground a few minutes outside of Marienville with direct access to the Marienville/Penoke trail systems (noted as Pigeon on the hyperlinked trail map). We will be setting up in the Group Camp area but the Forest Lodge also offers powered RV sites, motel rooms, apartments, and cabins! The group camp area will have access to water and the shower house. No power is in the Group Camp area. If you desire RV/camper spots, powered camping spots, a cabin, or motel room use the Forest Lodge hyperlink to reserve. Let them know you're with Appalachian ADV and type us in for the reason for your stay with them! They are located at 44078 Route 66 Marienville, PA 16239 and can be contacted at 814-927-8790 or forestlodgecampground@gmail.com. If you desire to book your own spot outside of the Group Camp area, reach out to Kane@AppalachianADV.com prior to signing up for the Rally for a small discount code on your rally pass.
Trail passes are required to ride the ANF Trail System and can be purchased at the Forest Lodge & Campground or through the USDA USFS website. Cost of an Annual Pass is $35, a day pass is $10. Please review all USDA USFS ANF rules and regulations for motorized travel on the trail systems prior to riding on the trails (information found via above hyperlink).
A list of local gas stations, grocers, restaurants, and other local attractions are available on the Forest Lodge website. A GPX file will also be sent out prior to the event which will include local POIs. A goal of Appalachian ADV Events is to help bring Adventure Tourism into small communities to help support the local economy, like our friends at DJ's Russell City Store. We encourage event participants to stop into Marienville or Kane to grab supplies, gas, lunch, and dinner (Thursday night).
Participants will receive email communications prior to the event with more information including event schedules, meal plans, etc.
Please review our FAQs for answers to common questions including our definitions of ADV Skill Levels and Terrain Ratings.
